Brad Holmes: Front Office Happy with QBs

Brad Holmes Liked Jake Fromm in College

One of the points of emphasis during the recent Detroit Lions front office co-headlined Brad Holmes and Ray Agnew press conference was the recent addition of quarterback Jake Fromm. Holmes expressed his admiration for Fromm’s capabilities, particularly noting how he made a strong impression in just two weeks since joining the team. “I’ve always been a fan of the player ever since he came out of Georgia,” Holmes remarked. “He’s always been a winner.” This sentiment reflects the Lions’ focus on bringing in players with proven track records of success and leadership.

Holmes elaborated on Jake’s ability to operate effectively without prior practice reps, stating that his accuracy and adaptability in a new environment were impressive. “When a quarterback can go out there and operate and be accurate for guys that he has not been working with, that’s impressive,” he said. Fromm may never see the field on game day, but he had earned the respect of the Detroit Lions general manager.

Brad Holmes Happy with Hendon Hooker’s Play

Holmes also emphasized the impressive progress Hendon Hooker has made in a short amount of time, noting that the more reps he receives, the more confidence he builds. “The more that we’re around him, the more confident that he’ll get,” Holmes stated. He highlighted Hooker’s journey, drawing parallels to his college career, where he faced challenges and competition but consistently worked hard to improve. Holmes reflected on Hooker’s college path, recalling that he didn’t just emerge as a standout overnight. “He had to work and grind,” Holmes explained. The Lions’ leadership believes that Hooker’s determination and work ethic will serve him well as he navigates the challenges of the NFL.

Agnew chimed in, acknowledging Hooker’s ability to spark life in the offense during his opportunities. “He gave a lot of life and spark to the offense when he had his chances,” Agnew noted, reinforcing the idea that Hooker is still in a learning phase but showing promising growth. Agnew also reiterated the confidence the team has in Hooker, citing his resilience and ability to compete at a high level. “He’s wired right to go through that,” Agnew said, emphasizing that Hooker has already proven his capability to overcome obstacles.
