Detroit Lions Joint Camp With Jacksonville Jaguars
In this episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Jeff react to the Detroit Lions first game of the preseason against the New York Giants as well as their joint practices against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the first few weeks of Detroit Lions Training Camp. The news out of Allen Park has been positive thus far, and the hype around the Detroit Lions is only growing as we inch toward the first game of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs. While everything leading up to that NFL opening Thursday is tracking in the right direction, very little of it carries the weight of that defense standing up to Patrick Mahomes and the unleashing of Ben Johnson and Jared Goff’s offense for live fire exercises.
Detroit Lions Podcast Training Camp Coverage Continues
The Detroit Lions have an excellent opportunity in training camp this year to spend two weeks of their time practicing and playing against preseason opponents leading up to those games. A chance to hit someone who isn’t a teammate, a chance to play against something different with different skills and wrinkles, and a chance to play at NFL speed as they work out the kinks on their respective sides of the ball. With the shortening of the preseason recently, this type of adjustment to how teams prepare in the preseason is certain to help first string players who won’t see much time (if any) in preseason games to get their reps against opponents who are just as hungry as they are. An excellent opportunity to help take practice to the next level for the Detroit Lions and (this week) the Jacksonville Jaguars.
