Dean Blandino Describes NFL Rules Changes
Long time friend of the Detroit Lions Podcast, Fox Sports Rules Analyst, former VP of Officiating for the NFL, and Vice President of Officiating for the XFL, Dean Blandino. Blandino joins us to describe the changes in NFL rules that were voted on in this week’s NFL owners’ meeting and also explains some of the details behind why they were ratified. Additionally, we cover a few rules submissions and why they didn’t quite make the cut.
Detroit Lions Podcast Goes Behind The Scenes At Owners Meeting
Blandino also takes us behind the scenes at the NFL owners’ meeting and tell us some of the parliamentary rules, how team will jockey for support (and block other teams’ rules submissions), and even how some of the attendees loosen up and find their way to having some fun along the way. Blandino also spends some time describing how they came up with many of the new rules being used in the XFL and why the NFL has been slower to innovate. Lastly, he helps us speculate which of the rules will be used to hurt the Detroit Lions again this year.
