In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris is Joined by Jeff ‘The Riz’ Risdon while Case remains on a brief hiatus from the show (ed: Suspended for PEDs). We cover the biggest topics including the start of Detroit Lions Training Camp 2018. We talk Golden Tate, Jim Caldwell, Kerryon Johnson, Coach Patricia, and a whole lot more…
The first of the topics we really dig in on is Kerryon Johnson and reports on his performance in training camp. There’s a lot to love about this guy and all things point to Kerryon being an excellent pick who can perform on day one. It’s obvious we’re going to be talking about Kerryon Johnson a ton this year.
There are a couple of topics that are connected but that we handle separately, the first is about Coach Matt Patricia and how he is making his own path, yet also showing some tendencies of coaches that are known as all-time great. Chris can’t help but continue to get higher and higher on Coach Patricia and is going to love lording this team’s performance over the fans of many different teams this year.
The Detroit Lions Podcast discusses what Kenny Golladay brings to the team, but does so in the context of what he brings to the broader offensive system. They allude back to an amazing offensive group that the team had in the past, but one which was missing a few pieces. The Lions have a set of pieces that really will make defenses pick their poison and will stretch them to their limits. It’s going to take a top tier defense to be able to stop Matthew Stafford and this offense if its firing on all cylinders.
We talk about roster moves, injuries, rule changes (targeting) and more in an action-packed episode to kick off the Lions 2018 season in earnest. I may be biased, but this is a heck of a great episode.
