In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris is Joined by Jeff ‘The Riz’ Risdon while Case starts a brief (job forced) hiatus from the show. We dig into a number of items this week pertaining to player injuries, roster moves, training camp news, and Riz takes us for a ride “Around The Division”.
This week we fill in even more details around the Detroit Lions Podcast Training Camp Party! It’s all going down on August 4th at the Uptown Grille in Commerce Township from 6pm – 9pm. There will be food, drinks, prizes, a live streamed (audience interactive) podcast, special guests, and a whole lot more! Since we’re doing all of this in a private room, be ready for the ultimate in pants-free podcasts! Hosting the live show will be Chris, Jeff Risdon, Erik Schlitt, and everyone’s video hero, Sandman. On a very special note, we’ve heard back from our good friend Jim Brandstatter and he is going to do his darnedest to join us as well.
We do a run through Lions injuries, and while Nick Bawden officially being put on IR really stinks, the big news is that Ziggy Ansah is starting camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) designation. Of course that’s led to wild speculation in light of his receiving the $17 million franchise tag, but we talk through it, provide some context, and hopefully give fans a reason not to be too worked up about the situation.
Loving our local boys, the Detroit Lions Podcast also discusses the signing of Inkster Michigan native, Freddie Bishop, to the team. We break down where he’s been, what he brings to the Lions, where he’ll play, and what his chances for remaining with the team for the long-haul might be.
We also spend some time discussing the sad situation about Matt Millen and his failing health, followed by the shocking story of the situation in Minnesota with Tony Sparano.
Riz also takes us “Around The Division” this week and gives a pass to the Vikings this week out of respect to the situation there.
