Will he play corner or safety in the Matt Patricia scheme? My thought is potentially both. Yet with how well he played when he was transitioned to safety toward the end of the Lions campaign last year that is where he will stay. Especially if more three safety sets start coming out. At safety, Diggs had a knack for finding the ball, getting his first career interception the game he transitioned. He followed this up with an interception in both of the next two games as well.
His ability to make plays will go down well in a Matt Patricia-style defense that relies on players, for want of a less cliché phrase, doing their job. Being a safety in the defense style that Detroit will adopt is a huge responsibility as they are the anchor for the team. Anything over the top will be theirs to cover and being in the right place at the right time is the main trait Matt Patricia will look for. As stated above, that is something Diggs happens to have.

Deep balls might be a weakness in his game due to his height. I’m sure Patricia will find a way to get over that weakness as utilizing strengths is what he does. Having someone next to you as solid and with as much experience as Glover Quin will make Diggs progression in the role accelerate. If the final games of last season are anything to go off however, he could be in for a very good and exciting year.
