Two New Faces Appear On The Injury Report, Both Superstars.

Detroit has a chance to clinch the division title for the first time since 1993 this week. Sadly, they have been getting more banged up, causing backups to step up to the challenge and others to play harder. The game this week is against the New York Giants, another team with some injuries and are fighting for a playoff spot as well. Check below for how Detroit is feeling at Wednesday’s practice.

Ziggy Ansah And Theo Riddick Out Of Practice

Again, Riddick and Ansah missed practice on Wednesday as it seems to be the trend of them both. They should both be limited on Thursday and on Friday. Ziggy left the game last week with a “stinger” on his shoulder and would return. That is the listed reason for him being out, not the ankle, despite him telling reporters that the ankle would bother him all year long. Riddick missed last week so he is the main back to watch at practice. Having him miss another game could be big for Detroit.

Matt Stafford Practices With One Finger Glove

Stafford has injured his middle finger on his throwing hand and it will be a problem the rest of the season. Stafford is going to play through it though and he wore something that nobody has seen him wear before. He wore a glove that just covered the middle finger and the rest were exposed. That could be a big help in keeping his grip, along with his power and velocity in his throwing hand. He is going to play the rest of the year, so don’t expect him to miss anytime unless it clearly affects how he plays.

Travis Swanson And Zach Zenner Are Concussion Bros

Swanson missed practice on Wednesday while Zenner was limited in practice and wore the red ‘no contact’ jersey. If Swanson has to miss another game, Glasgow could take over again and Tomlinson could slide back in at the left guard spot. Zenner missing time wouldn’t be the biggest blow, as Joique Bell is back and could take over that powerback role.

Eric Ebron And DeAndre Levy Limited As Well

Both players are dealing with their knee injuries and should be on the field again this week. We won’t know if Levy will get more playing time, or stick around the 20 snap mark on the field. For Levy, if he can turn into a full participant in practice that would be big, but don’t expect that until possibly week 16 or 17.

Darius Slay Bothered By Hamstring

Darius is dealing with a hamstring injury again. No word on if it is the same hamstring from earlier this year, but either way it is not a good thing to see when he has a big challenge up ahead with Odell Beckham Jr. Hopefully Slay can play this week as the cornerback position would be at a huge disadvantage with him out along with Diggs.

New York Giants Injury Report

The New York Giants are about as banged up as Detroit is right now. JPP is out after having surgery on a sports hernia. Linebacker Keenan Robinson didn’t practice as well with a shoulder injury. Three players were limited with concussions, linebacker Mark Herzlich and running back Shane Vereen, and safety Nat Berhe. Defensive end Owa Odighizuwa and guard Justin Pugh are both limited with knee injuries. Long snapper Zak DeOssie was limited with a hamstring, and defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins was limited with a shoulder injury.
