Good News and Bad News for Lions Fans After the First Practice of the Week.

The Detroit Lions were glad to see star defensive end Ziggy Ansah return to practice on Wednesday. While he has returned and in limited fashion, it could mean a return this week against the Rams. Detroit did get some bad news, as well as the return of Ziggy Ansah. LA is having some injuries on the defensive line as well, so Detroit won’t be the only team coming in banged up. Check out the latest news and practice updates for the Detroit Lions.

Ziggy Ansah Returns

The defensive front has bulked up with Ziggy Ansah returning to practice, but in limited fashion. The defensive end has been out of action since week two and didn’t have a timetable for his return. Ziggy Ansah will bring a presence to the defensive line that hasn’t been able to pressure the quarterback or stop the run game in general.

Haloti Ngata Out For 2-3 Weeks

Haloti Ngata left last Sunday’s game early due to a shoulder injury and now reports are saying he will miss two to three weeks of action. This is something the team didn’t want to hear with Ziggy Ansah returning to practice. Now with Ngata gone, expect more A’Shawn Robinson.

Eric Ebron , DeAndre Levy and Dwayne Washington Still Sidelined

Ebron and Levy are no surprise on this list and Washington can also join that list as the team signed Justin Forsett on Tuesday, as it seems Washington will miss action longer than expected. Washington may have a chance to return this week, but Ebron and Levy will certainly be out against the Rams.

Anquan Boldin, Theo Riddick Not Practicing

In a move nobody saw, Boldin and Riddick both missed practice with ankle injuries. No word on how they happened, but missing a practice could be a precautionary move by the team. If either one of these were serious the team would have made a move or announced something by now.

Laken Tomlinson Out, Graham Glasgow In

In another interesting move, Tomlinson was out of practice with a neck injury. Tavon Wilson had a neck injury and missed one game this season, so Tomlinson might be doing the same. Graham Glasgow was seen starting at the left guard spot, so if Tomlinson does miss time expect Glasgow to fill his shoes.

Larry Warford, A’Shawn Robinson and Don Carey Limited

Carey was limited last week due to a rib injury and that continues again this week. Since he played last week, you can bet he will be back this week. Warford and Robinson are new to the injury report as Warford was limited with a hip injury and Robinson was limited as well with a shoulder injury. Losing Warford would be a big blow to the offensive line and losing Robinson would easily hurt the defensive line who already lost Ngata for a few weeks.

Los Angeles Rams Injury Report

Coach Jeff Fisher said cornerback Trumaine Johnson “probably not going to go this week. It’ll be week-to-week.” He missed practice today and if the coach believes he won’t play, expect him to not play. Defensive tackle Michael Brockers, defensive end Robert Quinn, defensive end William Hayes and right guard Cody Wichmann all didn’t practice on Wednesday. No word on if any of these other players besides Johnson will play. But if Detroit has to only deal with Aaron Donald with Brockers, Quinn and Hayes on the sideline, that could give Stafford some life.
