The Detroit Lions Draft ‘Snapalicious’ Jimmy Landes In The Sixth Round

Lions pick up Jimmy “Snapalicious” Landes in the sixth round

With the 210th pick of the NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions take Jimmy Landes! Welcome to Detroit Jimmy! Jimmy is a long snapper who has a good resume. He is a six time Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor winner, two time Baylor Dean’s list honoree, two time Academic All-Big 12 Honoree and he played in the Senior Bowl and was at the combine. He was a former walk-on that received a scholarship before his junior year. In his career he had one tackle and a fumble recovery. He is now being nicknamed “snapalicious” after this video below. Check out his profile here.

Why did the Lions draft Jimmy Landes?

Don Muhlbach is getting old, there is no doubting that. He signed a one year deal this season and it could be his last one in Detroit and the NFL. Landes can get behind Muhlbach for a year, learn some pointers and replace him in 2017. He does have some good accuracy on his punt snaps and the speed is average. When it comes to field goal snapping, he is on point. Was this a reach of a pick? Absolutely. Landes could have been available after the draft, but Detroit didn’t seem to want to wait that long to grab him.

Thanks for reading and don’t forget to come back here for the rest of the NFL draft today for the final rounds!
