The Lions Have Been Entertaining During The First Half Of The Season.

The Lions week 10 bye is not only crucial for the team to rest up, but it gives us fans a chance to breathe as well. As we all are too well aware of, each game this season has been a one-possession nail biter. Here are my top five plays from the first nine games.

5. Stafford Truck Stick

Lions fans had noticed Matthew Stafford‘s improved mobility over past seasons, but in week two he shocked us all with a new wrinkle to his ground game, the truck stick. Stafford trucks Parrish Cox, who at 250 pounds is by no means a small DB. Cox probably took a bit of heat in the locker room after this one.

4. Jones’ 73 Yard Score

With the Lions trailing big against Green Bay in week four, Marvin Jones finally broke the cold streak with a huge 73 yard TD catch and run. The Lions ultimately lost the game, but made a valiant effort to come back in the second half. This was likely fueled by the spark Jones provided just before the half.

3. Stafford to Boldin Wins it Against Washington

Given the ball with just a minute left, Stafford engineered one of his trademark comebacks yet again. Capping this comeback with a strike to Anquan Boldin. The ball placement on this is absolutely perfect, fitting the ball just above the linebackers reaching arm and underneath the DB so Boldin can catch it and lunge in for the game winner.

2. Big Play Slay Welcomes Wentz to the NFL

Rookie QB Carson Wentz was all the rage after leading the Eagles to a 3-0 start, and was given the ball down one with 1:28 left to extend the winning streak. Up until this point, Wentz had not thrown an interception, but Darius Slay made sure that streak didn’t leave Detroit on this amazing game winning pick.

1. Golden Tate Doesn’t Care About Double Coverage

Flanked on the inside by Harrison Smith, and on the outside by Xavier Rhodes, Golden Tate still managed to catch an out route for the first down and slip a Rhodes tackle. Burying Smith into the US Bank Stadium turf while flipping his way to a Lions Victory.

Forward Down The Field.

Enjoy the bye. You deserve it.
